Striped Reverie: Missoni’s Vibrant Fall/Winter 2024 Collection

Backstage chaos ensued after the Missoni show, and Filippo Grazioli shared, ‘I wanted to have some fun.’ And fun he certainly had. The collection exuded a lively spirit—almost effervescent. Throughout, bulbous, ballooning knitted tops and oversized donut collars in shaggy textures made frequent appearances. These whimsical elements often adorned striped high-waisted catsuits that extended into stilettos, creating a playful ensemble.

The unapologetic leitmotif of the collection was stripes—available in every size from XS to XL. These stripes, borrowed from a 1958 archival pattern, were transformed into bold, vertical lines that hugged the body from head to toe. Sweeping coats layered over matching leggings also showcased this graphic motif. Additionally, crystal fringing dangled from back slits on slinky halter dresses, which were, of course, adorned with stripes. The color palette transitioned from stark black-and-white to vibrant turquoise and hot pink, occasionally bordering on the flamboyant.

Grazioli’s Missoni parade was explosive, leaving no respite for the eyes. The visual abundance, fueled by his exuberant and unrestrained sense of fun, captivated the audience.
